why we need to do the "ION" test?

hi, I am Chinese and working in oversea. My factory has only Windows English. So I post all message in English.

Customer also requests my factory to provide the ion test report of choride, Bromide,Nitrate and Sulphat. Do anyone know why these ions test are very important for them?
