Ensuring a complete 2005.x CDB supported Central Library exists 1.Import all DxDesigner “Symbol Libraries” into Central Library Symbol partitions. Customers can utilize the Library Migration Wizard provided with the 2005.x version of Library Manager 2.All Cells & Padstacks are assumed to be pre-existing in the Central Library, as they should have been previously used in the existing Netlist driven Expedition designs. 3.Manually input or Import ASCII the Part Database (PDB) data into Central Library Part partitions. To utilize the Part Editor Import ASCII capability, a user must physically place every symbol into a DxDesigner schematic and perform a “Netlist - Package” through to Expedition. Once successfully Packaged, the software creates a “PDB.hkp” file that contains all the packaging data, which then can be imported into the Part Editor within the Central Library. 4.When a complete 2005.x Central Library is in place, a pilot (test) project should be used to validate the new Central Library structure. Once validated, new 2005.x projects may continue with the CDB flow. Convert DxDesigner Netlist flow project to DxDesigner CDB flow project 1.Open the netlist flow pilot project with 2005.x DxDesigner 2.Within DxDesigner modify the Design Configuration settings to the following: Enable Library Manager Central Library option & define Central Library path Expedition PCB → Constrain in CES - Enable Expedition PCB → Use CDB Flow - Enable 3. Compile and Package CDB. If packaging errors occur, typically this is the result of an incorrect PDB definition(s) or cell/part data mismatch and will need to be resolved before continuing. Refer to the “pcb.err” file for detailed Packaging error information. 4.After a successful Packager is performed, run Forward to Expedition and execute Forward Annotate when Expedition opens and the system prompts the user to continue. A successful Forward Annotation finalizes the transition of a 2005.x Netlist flow project to a 2005.x CDB flow project. 5.Now the 2005.x CDB flow project can be migrated to a 2007 design flow using wizard steps.
