PADS to Expedition PCB Translator
This is a complete re-write of the PADS to Expedition PCB translator that has been available for several
VB/WG releases. In addition direct Library translation is also supported.
There are actually two translators, PADS (PowerPCB) to Expedition PCB and Expedition PCB to PADS
(Power PCB). These are individual, uni-directional translators and should not be viewed as a mechanism
to repeatedly move databases bi-directionally between the products. They are designed to primarily facilitate
a single migration from one product to the other.
For example, multiple PADS (PowerPCB) seats may be used for prototyping and general design work
before being translated to an Expedition PCB based production environment for final output to manufacturing.
Or, due to the ever-increasing number of merged companies, there may be several seats of either
product; in which are now remote divisions and the designs may have to move between sites for ECO's.
The number of available service bureaus and selection for outsourcing may be increased based on their
tool of choice.
The translators have been tested in PowerPCB Version 5.0 and WG2002 Spac2/WG2002 Spac3 and will
also be supported in future releases. As the translators span two different product lines, they will be available
separately for download from SupportNet at the same time as WG2002.3. |
