I agree with you.Today I advert to the people around me.I find in Beijing people are not dressily.They don't care their dress quite.I have not go to Shanghai.When I was a child there were lots of books of fashionable dress designed in Shanghai.We call the dress "海派“.So Shanghai is a city about dress in my mind.The sense has been keeped long time.

You've never been to Shanghai? what a pity. hehe, Just like I never have been to Beijing----Our capital.
So, one thing is almost for sure, you'll feel amazing and excited about this modern city. You know, Shanghai is now more and more international in every aspect like high-buildings, urban infrastructure, life-style, culture.......

What can I say?There is only jealousy left.
I remmber one phrase:"He was Shanghaied".To the foreigner,Shanghai is China.I think Beijing won't get the "authorization" forever.Shanghai is a beautiful city .My brother is in shanghai.He told me that People who have gone to Shanghai would turn up their nose at other city.Maybe it is true.

It's always a hot topic about this two big cities in China--Shanghai VS Beijing.
Though, I've never got the chance to Beijing, I do consider that both the cities
are attractive and each has its own unique characteristic.They share commons grounds and differentias.
Shanghai & Beijing is just like two girls, one is open, passional, modern;
the other is preserved, quite,tranditional.
Beijing is rather a political center while Shanghai is an economic & trace hub.
Both are well-known metropolis in home and abroad.

In a word, Shanghai & Beijing are fancy cities.~~~~~~~~~~

You are right,This is my classmate's sense,When he went to Shanghai:

2002年9月11日，在上海认识小资

6点多下了轻轨，上海的街上已然是熙熙攘攘。待上了公交，无奈箱子太宽，占据了大半个
过道，好在上海人只顾得忙着赶自己上班，没时间埋怨我。最后箱子那头只剩下一个空座。
这时上来一个很正点的上海宝贝和一个比我更有山东特征的汉子。我开始替姑娘打抱不平起
来，要是她再年轻20岁我拼了老脸也会给她让座的。但是上海姑娘却是不同凡响，用一个标
准的先对抗再触球的动作强占了座位，不知为什么，这一刻我突然想起不相干的 小资 这两
个字来。看车外，一个长发飘逸的小伙子用我见过的极为高雅的姿势骑者自行车，可是小指
却不直觉的伸到鼻孔里，我想给好事者知道，肯定要给命名为后现代主义的小资。到了学校
里，常听见结伴的人很怡然的吐着拗口的上海话，回忆起来，我从来没有听到过赫明钊冲着
马欣呼“么啊”。在上海，大概只有这样的自我意识和自我感觉才能有这样的小资情调。
在学校里交了昂贵的住宿费，我的钱包已经瘪的象俺的脸皮那么薄了，为了不至于以后饿
到可怜的站在七楼上向我暗恋的嫦娥姐姐骗兔腿吃，我决定去五角场买便宜的日用品。对上
海人的工于装扮早有耳闻，不想身著名牌在街上穿梭的人都那么的目无旁骛，于是明白每一
个小资的上海人没有一个是小 资的。再想想此刻的自己，汗滓滓的衬衣，蓬乱的头发，左
手提着着凉席，右手揽着廉价购来的包裹，徜徉于人潮人海之中，不禁莞尔，原来这里最小
资的 却是我。
有灌水的嫌疑，不过只此一次啊

Hehe...forget it.or regard it as a joke.How about your 普通话？In other place if you say“侬”“阿拉”，people will know where you are from.

Concerning “普通话”, it's no problem with me.
There is not Shanghainese dialect in my PuTongHua......
When I was in Middle/High shcool, the education is a bit special,
so we were forced to speak Putonghua at school, which makes my pronounciation standard.
Tell you another secret:My High school is the only girl school in Shanghai which named "Shanghai N0.3 Girls Middle School".........
That's why the eduction is a little special to others.
