sweet nothings

情话

sweet, tasting like sugar or honey; not sour, bitter or salty，甜的，甘甜的。

这是一个很奇怪的词组：sweet, 在这里我们可以理解为情意绵绵，那为什么要加上一个nothings（无关紧要）呢？根据我个人的理解，情话往往是听上去很温情，但是基本上属于中听不中用的废话。因此，“情话”就是那些中听不中用的废话，sweet nothings也就很容易理解了。

正处在热恋中的人看到这段话可别生气哦，这仅仅代表我的个人看法啦！

开个玩笑，言归正传，我们来看例句：

She whispered sweet nothings to his ear.

她对他悄悄地说着情话。
